I doubt that it is mixing. Mine looked pretty dark after less than 3,000 miles. Perhaps you had gear oil in there before?
I used Castrol GTX 10W30 as a flush, and then followed with Amsoil 10W40 motorcycle oil on the advice of someone who frequents this forum who is an engineer with lubrication background. The latest motor oils lack ZDDP, a compound that slows down wear, so they are no longer as suitable for transmissions as they used to be. Motorcycle oil still contains plenty of this compound, and is used to lubricate engines and gearboxes using a common sump.
