Go to an Auto Palace and have them check the strength of your battery and coolant. If either is weak, have them replaced. If your battery is strong, be sure that the contacts are clean. Periodically add some DryGas fuel-line antifreeze to your tank. Especially if it gets really fridgid.
A car cover won't save you any work. You'll still need to clear off the car. But, now you'll be having to take a wet or frozen-stiff cover off too. Sometimes the cover will actually freeze to the car which is a real PITA. You can raise your wipers off the windshield while not driving to keep them from freezing to the windshield. Lastly, while at Auto Palace, get a few cans of spray-on windshield deicer--great stuff.
