I purchased a direct fit catalytic converter from Advanced Auto for an 88 900 turbo. I didn't want to deal with welding as I haven't yet convinced the wife that I need to buy that world of tools (plus needing to gain a whole new set of skills).
Anyway, when I opened the box, there are 2 pieces, plus a muffler clamp and gaskets. The converter itself has the flange on one end, and a straight pipe with no flange on the other. Then the 2nd item is a straight pipe with a flange on just one end. It fits inside the straight pipe on the converter.
My question is, when I slide these pieces together, do they then need to be welded? Or will the provided clamp seal it properly?
Thanks for any help you may be able to provide.
Dave
