marq,
Did it make a noise or just stop running? Lots of things can make a C900 just stop cold, breaking a chain, even and old one, is a pretty rare occurrence. On older cars, like our C900s, a disconnected wire in the ignition or injection system is a very common thing and one bad connection can turn your engine right off. This often happens while driving too. One of the most common such problems occurs where the shielded cable connects at the distributor for the Hall effect. Another are the wires that connect to the coil primary terminals. Either of those can shut the ignition off completely. If you need to rule out a broken chain just take the valve cover off and there it is. If it's easier for you to check the compression then do that. With a broken chain and the valves not moving you'll get no compression. Good luck
