would pull the intake hoses and get the clutch cover off (only a couple bolts, but alot of wrestling!). then, you can visably inspect the clutch- i think whatever has happened is going to have left at least a few chunks of lining/spring fingers in the bottom of the clutch area. i think i vote for clutch friction material having seperated/rivets failed. do you know if it was a rebuilt clutch?
of course if it is the clutch, you can DIY it, for just a few hundred-will be better than a head or trannie!
pull the cover, let us know (i, for one, am curious!)
