...I was talking to my mechanic and he is heading towards r&r of the timing cover to access the o-ring. Having worked at the back of the car to re-seal the water pump, install the power steering pump, replace belts etc, I can't see this being an easy task but I think it should be done.
Can you remove the timing cover without pulling the head?? I know it's sandwiched a bit between the head and transmission.
