Even though you said it. I would still check again that the pickup tube and o-ring is seated firmly and deep enough into the timing cover.
I don't know what technique you used when lowering the engine back onto the transmission, but it is kind of tricky to get it back together without bending or moving the pickup tube.
Di you remove the oil pressure valve and if so, could it be installed backwards?
Is the two dowel pins still in oil pump housing? Without them, the oil pump might be out of alignment enough to not create suction.
