When the slave cyl. fails, there will always be a loss of fluid. It's also a royal PITA, which is why the shop doesn't want to do it.
Take Saabnutt's advice and try flushing out the fluid. It's the simplest and cheapest, and it certainly can't do any harm, aside from the risk of getting air in. If this turns out to be the culprit, then you should flush the brakes out, too, as this is likely the same fluid. Especially if you sprung for a power bleeder.
The master cylinder could still be the problem, as it takes only a small amount of dirt under the seal to render it useless, or near useless.
Does the clutch initially have pressure, then fade? Is the clutch pedal feel firm all the way through its travel? The Saab's clutch will feel stiffer than most cars', and should have full pressure right at the top.
