Michael,
After the output assembly is removed and the four pinion housing retaining bolts are out stand the main case on end, differential end against the floor. You can drift the pinion assembly down and out with a hardwood block and a rod or stand the whole thing on a press and press it out, it's not in there very tight. Be sure to catch it as it comes out or place a big wad of rags on the floor so it doesn't get damaged. Hey by the way, if you are taking a pinion assembly from another case to put in this one you should measure and reset the pinion offset and of course transfer the differential and ring gear assembly as well and that includes resetting the side bearing preload and ring gear backlash. That's a lot of extra work, have you considered instead rebuilding the unit that has the good pinion bearings and using it? Most of these that I rebuilt were virgins with about 150,000 miles but I can't remember having one with bad pinion bearings (except the ones that ran without lube in the diff. until they locked up) and I disassembled and inspected every pinion assembly, replaced the two oil seals and o'rings and inspected the bearings. How many miles are on this unit? Cheers
