I disagree about the bushings, maybe not the ball joint. There are a couple of visual checks you can do. Do the bushings feel gummy or hard and cracked? With the ball joint, use a pair of large channel-lock pliers and squeeze to bolt down while grabbing the bottom of the joint. It should barely move, 1/6" or less. Are there any rips in the boots of the ball joints and tyre-rods?. High mileage wear is related to the driving condition that the cars PO submitted it to. Back country roads or interstate highways? I just brought a 92/9000 turbo with 180.000 miles on it and the car just looks and feels like it never saw anything but smooth highways. Was probably garage kept. It never missed the factories recommedations on service. I replaced one upper "A" arm bushing for a cost of $4.00. Everything else checks out OK. I'm sure with the way I maintain my cars, this 92/900t should see another 200.000. plus miles. Bottom line is to do visual checks and the squeeze test on the ball joints and tyre-rods. Use 10-30w in the transmission and flush every fluid that you can. This won't cost as much as waiting for the part to fail. The fluids are the life blood of automobiles. Also, I use in all my cars, "Barsleaks" and have never had to replace the radiators or heater cores. Just research the product on line. Run two tank full of "Thecron" to clean-up the injection system. Wait for it to warm-up outside to operate the roof top. Meguiare's brand product is something that I would recommend for reconditioning the top. Never park under trees, limbs don't know there's a beautiful Saab below. Nice purchase. I'm sure the PO is happy to know someone else will be taking care of their baby.
