In patching some minor rust patches on my '93 I had real good luck with the 3M panel adhesive (Fast Set). Had about six areas about the 1/2 size of your hand or smaller to be done. Worked out real well as I don't really weld and did not want to use putty or fiberglass. One hint though, if your doing small areas don't bother with the waffle tip that comes with the tube, it is for one time use and will harden up inside the tip making it useless. I just squeezed out what I needed in equal amount of the A and B parts and mixed in a plastic milk carton bottom. Then spread with a small plastic body putty spreader. Also you want to pre-paint your repair and patches before using the adhesive, I used Por-15 the seam sealed everything after the adhesive set up. The 3M adhesive is not for structural repairs though. Good luck.
