starter issue- wire to starter shows power with a test Posted by nicknick [Email] (#731) [Profile/Gallery] (more from nicknick) on Sun, 6 Apr 2008 10:44:23 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
light every time. if i jump the + lead to the (spade) terminal on the solenoid, it starts every time. however, the key will not start the car every time. what am i missing here? i used a test light to be sure that the signal wire was carrying some current, not just voltage. i jumped the power from the + connection on the solenoid to be sure i had power right there, not just at the bat. how can this be?
i have other starters, and other ign switches, but i don't see the point in changing stuff out without confirmed diagnosis of a fault.
plus, i have a 5 speed conversion to be getting on with!
TIA (yes, i know others have had this issue, but i have done the basic fault tracing, so would appreciate input here)
