I'm with Siegfried - why did you replace the original? Cats, under normal operation, don't wear out - there is nothing in there to be consumed or used up. If one needed replacement, it's because something was wrong with the engine to start with and it damaged the original cat. Unless you fixed that problem, you'll lose the replacement as well. A cat can get fouled by oil or rich running or high heat VERY quickly - far less than 10,000 miles.
