i'm sure you'll get alot of opinions, but this what i Posted by nicknick [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: good starter tool set for saab newbie?, john, Fri, 18 Apr 2008 16:58:47 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
have, and consider essential-i will leave out 'luxuries'.
socket set; i got a 'great neck' set that has 1/4", 3/8" and 1/2" ratchets-bought a few extensions to compliment that set (mostly 3/8")
extensions; i have a nice 3' 3/8", and 2 shorter 'wobble' jobs, which really help. Also, i got a 1/2" cheater/breaker bar, and of course a 1/2" torque wrench.
in addition, a couple of useful pieces are 1/2" to 3/8" adaptors and 3/8" to 1/2" adaptor both in 'black' impact type.
also, 1 1/16" socket for chain tensioner.
30mm socket cut down for crank pulley.
standard metric wrench set- 8mm to 19mm
stubby 13mm ratcheting wrench is a must! you could buy the whole set, but they are kind of pricey-the 13mm makes working on the p/s set-up a breeze, as well as many other places on these cars.
nice long lever bar for dealing with the suspension-mine is 4' odd with a flat end, slight bend near that end.
obviously floor jack (the bigger the better, got mine free from a shop that was closing down), and axle stands.
lights!
that's all i can think of right now.
Bravo for 'getting stuck in'!
