sealing the cover back up is the problem, you end up Posted by nicknick [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Re: pulling the engine also causes pain?, GregT, Mon, 21 Apr 2008 05:42:17 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
scraping some of your sealant off while getting the cover back on. i was actually searching on the timing chain cover yeasterday, as i had just installed one (out of car), and wanted to make sure my sealing job was done right. it is the general concensous that this job can only be attempted out of the car.
Now, this is a bummer, for sure, but pulling the 'lump' really is not difficult in these cars. the wiring is basically almost impossible to get back on wrong, just pay attention to where ground wires go, and those 2 pin connectors (fan connector is one example) are in several places and should be labelled as you pull them.
I would say "grab the bull by the horns" on this one. you'll be tapdancing around the issue for alot longer than it takes to actually do the job otherwise, trust me...
there are many good folks here to help guide you through the simple engine pull version (less problematic than the bently's version), so, go rent a hoist!
