You don't have to pull the engine

When I did the head gasket on my 86 I had a water leak in the timing chain cover.
I did not pull the engine to fix it.
Take the head off, alt out, and balancer off. The PS pump will annoy you, so you may want to get it out of the way (and replace those bushings).
there are 3 problems with doing it this way,
1- all the bolts seem to be different lengths
2- the seal between the bottom on the cover and the trans will be hard because of the dowel pins. I used some RVT and no leaks in 2 years.
3- your back will not be happy.
If you have a compressor and a 90 degree wrench, things go really quick. Just break everything free with a socked and take the bolts out with the air tool. Make sure you have ALL of them out, they hide.
You can do the DS control arm busings w/ the alt out.
e-mail me if you have questions.
I'm in the Atlanta area if you need to tool loan.
