None of that makes any sense.
The computer has no memory aside from storing information about idle speed. Disconnecting the computer does absolutely nothing on a c900 except make you have to reset your stereo presets and temporarily resetting the CEL.
Replacing a catalytic converter and exhaust on a c900 is a $500 affair, buying OEM parts from a reputable place. An exhaust shop can do a plenty good 2-3 year repair for $250. That said, the computer in a c900 knows absolutely nothing about a catalytic converter - it's done checking engine operation at the O2 sensor. You can run the best cat or the worst cat and a c900 won't be any the wiser.
If you have a CEL, you pull the codes and it tells you what to look at. If you have a hesitation and a CEL, dollars to donuts the air mass meter needs to be replaced, or there is some ignition component malfunctioning.
First be sure there are no vacuum leaks - a split boot at the throttlebody, or bad vacuum hoses. Replace them if you do. If you haven't done it in recent memory, I'd go drop $200 at eeuroparts.com and pick up a new coolant temp sensor, distributor cap, distributor rotor, spark plugs, spark plug wires, oxygen sensor and an air filter. Throw in the rubber grommets in the intake manifold (3 of them) and the valve cover (1 of them). See where that gets you - at the very least you'll have a full tuneup, at best it'll fix the issue. After that, look into replacing the air mass meter. What you're facing isn't that hard and isn't going to be $1000....
