bigger revamp in a few years. $500 will get you a known good tranny. 750 would get it put in, without all the engine mounts, alt bushings, new clutch, oil seals, etc that you should obviously do. keep your fingers crossed for a year or 2, then do a proper job on it.
of course, if it were me, i would buy it off you for next to nothing, throw a trans in i had laying around in my shop, using a rented hoist if needed, and drive happy as larry for a long time. At least, that's what i did with the SiS. Love the car to bits.
