OK-got the go ahead from SaabRadio to buy new system. Got system, took to shop, but no code. Got VIN# from person who sold radio, etc. then took radio to Saab dealer who said: Serial number is not from a Saab, maybe a Benz; we can't work on anything this old (I asked before taking it to them); call EuroService for help; pay us $92. EuroService willing to help, but radio not from a Benz.
Can we get the code from anywhere other than a dealer? If not, I'm sunk and out over $800 to stop the elec. short in the stereo from draining my battery overnight.
Tried pulling the fuses and relays for the stereo to halt the drain, to no avail. I figure I get 6 starts for every thousand bucks I spend on the car. At that rate, I've bought several showroom, best-in-show quality classics! Can't we dismantle the radio and look at something like a set switch that would give us the code? There's gotta be another way.
SuzAnne (I know nothing about Saabs except that I love them and have lots of weeping moments when dealing with them)
