ari, sorry to waste your time. i am aware of how to check the voltage swing on an 02 sensor, but what i didn't know until today was that the mixture was adjustable via the screw on the amm. i just never had a problem w/ mixture until recently, and didn't know the adjustment was possible on my car ('86). i also get what you are saying about about checking the ohms for a baseline to put it back if i frog it up. originally i thought that the ohms check could determine whether the amm was good or bad-anders says it cannot be checked this way-that's two things i've learned ( i can take tomorrow off).
last question of the day about amm (w/feeling)! is the voltage check anders is talking about any more/better "fine tuning" than tuning via the voltage at the 02 sensor as you have suggested??? please don't hurt my feelings by making me feel dumb :(
thanks again for the GOOD info
