Drivers-side wheel bearing was close to exiting. There was no damage to the hub, thankfully. Jerry of Foreign Auto said they were "totally loose".

Replaced most parts that came off to do the bearing replacement (ball joints specifically) and put on new brake pads for me (he noted my rotors are OK for now but I would be replacing them the next time around.

$300 in parts and just under 2 hours of labor ($80/hr).
$454.80 was the final cost. And my car is running.

Also, he won a customer (a co-worker) when he tightened down the tie rods on his 94 900SE after another show f*ed it up when installing a new clutch (something about spring bolts and air guns).
