a couple of questions. how think were the tires you took off? how many miles have you put on the new tires? and lastly, how many times have you done this in your lifetime? The reason I'm asking is that new tires always seem squishy after you've run near slicks just before. Later, after the tire wears a bit, and you get used to actually having tread that does change the steering angle and all that... you find out it's ok. Each and everytime I put each of the 6 sets of the Michelin MXV4's on my 1992 9000CDT the new ones seemed to be understeering wildly... from the used set I just took off that felt great... and were worn to the point of needing new ones... after about 2 weeks I was accustomed to having tread again.

If you are looking for a race tire feel you should be working short wide tires.

As Justin said, there are good and bad tires at every speed rating and size and just because you purchase one speed rating doesn't mean it will be a bad tire, either in quality or handling.

BTW, the *only* reason that H or V or Z tires are *reccomended* is that in europe they spec it according to the *speedometer's* maximum speed with the assumption that you can drive that fast so need a tire that can run that fast, continuously, for particular amount of time. Basically something you and I can't do in the good old US of A anywhere, at least not legally!
