Having had to just do a heater valve, I can say that the Scantech unit needs to be checked for flatness on the mating surface to the core. There was more total variation in the surface than half the thickness of the O rings, so it would be bound to leak. We used a glass surface and worked the surface with fine grit until it was flat enough to mount. No leaks yet.
Interesting that when I replaced the brake pedal rubber, and there was a good showing of antifreeze "inside" the rubber pad of the brake pedal from leaking downward....probably something I will check first on the next car before I buy it!
