There is a plastic and rubber bushing at the front of the shift lever box but they don't usually wear out and I'd expect you to have some slop in ALL gears if that was the case. At this point it sounds like you should remove the plastic shroud from the shifter box and start investigating. You may find that the box is not secured to the chassis. That would be the three security nuts being loose or the ring that holds the shift lever into the box may be loose. Sometimes the weld where the ring meets the shift rod breaks. There's several possibilities but you just need to get in there and have a look. Whatever you find you should check the shift linkage adjustment after it's fixed. Good luck
