Not crazy at all, I bought an 85 spg 5 years ago and still my daily driver with over 300,000 on the odometer. I've done some patching to the hall sensor wiring and need to re-do wiring for electric mirrors and locks (worst area in engine bay for disintegrating wires for me). I've replaced cylinder head, clutch, brake master cylinder, shocks and springs, switched to black interior plus other cosmetic items like dash switches and glove box from junker with nicer interior then mine. Brakes are always an issue , usually sticking caliper. Biggest improvement was replacing all vacuum hoses and adding cold air intake. I find all 86 parts are o.k. to use so I assume distributor is o.k. to swap. Sounds like a lot of work but I spread it out over 5 years so keep that in mind. Enjoy it, great car and I prefer look of the old bumpers.
