First I, like you, suspect the battery. It's been my experience that a failed battery simply won't take a charge, or at least one sufficient to start the car. So if it's an option, pull the battery and take it to a Batteries Plus (or whatever) store to have it tested. You don't need a "Saab specialist" to do that.
Second (and for future reference) it's always helpful if your post includes any other diagnostic clues. You provide some detail and so doesn't reach the ultimate of "My Saab won't start, anybody know why?", but it's close.
Were there any warning signs prior to this episode (slow cranking; alternator light coming on, etc.); has there been any recent work on the car that might have inadvertantly caused this problem? Since the battery is the prime suspect, how old is it?... That sort of thing. Give us something to chew on and we can probably help.
With that scolding out of the way, let me close by wishing you good luck. I hope the fix is cheap, but in any case please let us know how it turns out.
Scott
