How much gasoline is in the tank? I once owned a 82/Volvo, that when the fuel was down to 1/4 tank, it would buck and run poorly. The pre-pump was at fault. Do you have a fuel pressure gauge. Actron sell a very nice one with the proper fittings. Using one of these is the best way to check the complete fuel pump checks. You'll be able to check full pump pressure (extremely momentarily), idle pressure, running pressure and leak down pressure check. You could just have a faulty check valve for the fuel pump and the fuel pressure can't build for correct fuel delivery.
