Clutch Slave Posted by tibbidoh [Email] (#1014) [Profile/Gallery] (more from tibbidoh) on Tue, 24 Mar 2009 08:05:34 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Just finished redoing my clutch slave, about 1 1/2 years old, and yes Scantech replacement part. In rebuilding the slave I noticed that the hydraulic holes into the piston seemed small, so I decided to get out one of the older slave cylinders that I had put away and sure enough I was wrong, the holes were the same size. Then in really looking at the parts and the center piece had been changed to steel instead of aluminum and the piston metal quality used in each was different. The Scantech piston (possibly 2 years old) was spotty / shiny in places where as the older piston (probably original equ.) a smooth uniform mat finished. Anyway, looks like it would be better to rebuild the older unit to me.
By the way if you have a somewhat function slave cylinder/master cylinder, the Scantech Clutch Compression Tool is great. Yeah it is a piece of crap, but for 9 bucks it's great and you can probably get 5 or 6 uses out of it if you don't have to pull to hard removing it.
