First the good news: You can continue to drive around, AFTER disconnection the P/S pump belt,
just in case you have to get parts or drive to a shop if you can not do the job.
I worked on two 900 S with PS pump issues, here is my advice. The first order of business is to determine where it is leaking! Hose, Pump, or both or maybe the Rack???? If you have a filter placed at the return hose, going from rack to tank, it can leak there because the filter is cracked, or the nipple that connects the tank to the hose is cracked.
You wrote that it is leaking from the PS pump, so I guess it's not leaking at the tank or the filter.
If it is leaking at the pump, you must find out if it is actually the pump. The pump leaks at he shaft between pulley and pump. If it leaks there the rubber seal is gone and you need a new pump. If it leaks at the pump, where the metal hose connects into the pump, it is the short metal hose, connecting pump to the PS hose, the one hold in place with a clamp to the braked, you must replace that short metal hose. On my car, it had a hair crack, inside not viewable from the outside and it leaked out of the space between the fastening nut and hose. You should check the black rubber bottom hose, that goes down as well. Maybe the clamp got loose and it leaks form there. Should the PS hoses from the rack to pump and tank leak, you should just buy them online and have them replaced at a shop. They are very hard to get off the rack and almost impossible to get back on without proper access from below. You need a car lift and stand under the car to do it, otherwise you go nuts. This is my experience after attempting to change the rack/tank hose. Lift up the engine at passenger side when replacing the pump, otherwise you can NOT get the pump on the braked out. That was actually my first repair when I got my 900 S and I did not know this trick. I had to undo the pump off the braked behind the engine/firewall.
That was a true nightmare........
Eeuroparts has good prices, but I git my last pump at autopartswarehouse.com for $ 65 plus $ 32 core charge.
Good Luck !!!!
