AGAIN , wondering why for a 1/16 of an inch difference my top isn't removed, at least an hour ago.Have a complete almost new used blue top for my blue 93 vert 900T . The idea was to remove the complete top frame and using the very good rear window section (unzipped) from the ratty original top, remove the 3 bolts on each side , slide out the 2 hydralic cyl pins and remove old frame and install new one. EXCEPT the log bolt near the top of the attachment frame that goes through the two bronze bushings JUST won't clear the body by about 1/16th of an inch so the old frame won't come off. I am so tempted to dremmel off just a little of the head of that long bolt, get a new one, and install it in from the opposite way so the nut is on the seat side instead of on the side closest to the body exterior. Oh it looks as if I can remove the back seat top and botton and then remove the speaker panel complete and access two bolts holding the lower part of the frame work that the hydralic piston passes through, BUT why all that extra work to remove a bolt that should have easily been designed to come out and not create such a hassle with so much extra work? What am I not seeing here? Any ideas except the extra work of removing seats and both speaker side panels ,2 more bolts, or cutting the long bolt head. Tell me why I should not once removed put the new bolt in from the opposite direction. POed at Saab engineers as so many times I have had to do so much extra work due to lack of forethought on the "gods" design and consideration of the mechanics that have to work on their quirky creations and YEA another place where I am finding SAE standard hardware. WTF? Just like the front shock lower attach point.
