Sorry not to end this forever, but one last final post...
Here is your "documentation" you asked for Mr Tanker....and of course it has to be "true" as I found it on the internet! Based on this jibberish, all my comments are on target. You don't get 1000 miles on 110 gallons in a T-38. Given that he was based in Houston, if he flew to Indianapolis, his tank would be empty, therefore your 'topping it off' with 110 gallons is childish.
From some bulletin board on the internet that is never wrong...notice that the guy can't even spell astronaut.
"Some years ago my partner, the late original seven-astranaut Gordon Cooper, along with ten others developed a new fuel for aviation. I witnessed Gordon filling his T-38, that the USAF assigned to him as his personal “bird”, with Methanol. I met him in Indiana when he was racing cars-he landed at a small airfield that had no Av-Karo.There were two 55 gallons of Methanol left, and he used that to make a non-stop flight back to Houston. I remember the G E people telling him that they could not believe how great a shape the engine was in-looked like new...I might add--aft-burners worked, but temptures were less than 50% of normal. "
