In my opinion, the C900 is the last "real" SAAB. As others have mentioned, the engine over trans layout was unique, and in my opinion, made the car drive less like a cheap FWD car. Much of the c900 was hand assembled, and although not in the same league performance or comfort wise as the 9000, I believe the 900 was a more "exotic" car.
I've owned most of the models SAAB has produced with the exception of the 2 stroke cars. Although our 9-5, and our 9000's of the past are much nicer for a long trip, or daily commute, I would never consider either of them something collectible. I do however think the C900's are somewhat collectible cars.
