Saabnutt, thanks for your idea. I thought about using a helicoil, but I still doubt my ability to create a perfectly centered and straight hole that will line up correctly. There just isn't enough room with the engine and transmission joined together.
I think I will just use JB weld to seal the hole and maybe put some sealant on the mating surface of the flywheel/crankshaft.
I am hoping that the fluid was oil coming from the hasty patch job I did on the damaged bolt hole, and not the rear main seal. I guess I won't know if the rear main seal is leaking until I try it again.
Any use in sealing either the inner or outer circumference of the rear main seal? I assume one of them is stationery relative to either the crankshaft or the housing.
