Hello all,
For those who remember my questions about my driver's side window--it's fixed! PB Blaster to the rescue! I had to disconnect the flat panel where the regulator is connected to the door to ease the window down, which cause that flat piece to rotate sideways, revealing a few connections I hadn't PB Blasted. Once I did, it started working. Hurray! Thank you for the help!
Also, Barsleak has successfully stopped my radiator fluid leak. Hurray!
I discovered that the mysterious missing gasket for the aftermarket oil pressure switch--was sitting on my engine where we must've dropped it when we were installing the switch! D'oh! That little oversight cost me $20 in oil :)
NOW:
I'm sure anyone who's ever installed a car radio must be rolling their eyes at me for this one, but hey we have to learn somehow... I have an old radio with an audio input that I want to install for between now and when I send my clarion to have an input installed.
I thought this would be a simple matter of pulling out the radio using my nifty homemade DIN tool (metal coathangers from walmart--$1.30 and I have 9 left grin), disconnecting some wires, and matching up like colors or something.
Instead, when I pulled the radio out, there was a single boxy connector in the back of the radio which slid right into a receiving connector in the spot where the radio goes. I open up the radio (hm, why does my radio have a slot for cassette but no mechanism inside??) and there are a few wires connected to the connector on the inside of the radio, but not in a way that I can use that connector.
So..... is there some way to extract the receiving connector piece from the slot where the radio goes, so I can patch in the wires from the radio I have now? Or am I meant to buy a little connector like on the back of the radio and use that, and then just slide it in like I do with the Clarion? If I am meant to buy such a thing, is there a store that I can go to or does it have to be through online? I'm anxious to be able to use the iPod because I work full time and go to school and would like to be able to listen to my lectures during my 1 hour commute to / from work... so if I can buy the connector somewhere simple, that'd be great.
I noticed that walmart (yeah yeah i'm addicted) has some "Scosche" kits--is that what I need? I didn't see one that said Saab--is there one labeled something else that I could use?
Thank you for helping out someone so woefully unprepared. Think of my joy when I'm not only cruising an hour to work in my 227k miles '90 SPG, but also listening to a lecture on abstract math! Hurray!
ps I know this is a dumb question, but I searched the boards and all the messages seem to be coming from/to people who know what the deal is already in some sense. I am not those people....
Peace,
Sky
