True. Say the original dist. was pointing at contact for #1 when you removed it. You put the new one in with the same orientation as the old (side clips easily accessible), the drive dog is slightly different so now, perhaps the rotor is pointing between two contacts in the cap. Simply rotate the new dist so that the rotor now points to #1.

You previously said that the shutter wheel openings in relation to the position of the rotor were the same for each distributor. You're done.
Does this make sense?
