look for the old washer first Posted by Cmyles [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Re: Is there a washer behind the oil sender?, Carl, Thu, 13 May 2010 08:01:19 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Swish,
As I've said, the original washer is captive, like a spark plug washer. When you look at the base of the sender the washer can masquerade as just a step on the shoulder. You can confirm it's presence by slipping a knife blade in there and separating the washer from the base of the sender, it won't fall off though. This is only important because if you put another washer (of any type) on there when the original one is still in place you will probably have a bad leak. The original washer seems to seal just fine with repeated removal and replacement (even though it's probably not intended to). It can be replaced with a common spark plug washer if needed. I've noticed that Saab tends not to use fuel line type seals in line connections for hot fluids (oil or coolant). Spark plug washers used to be available at most auto parts stores.
