Thanks a lot guys!!!
I will definately pull the motor out - this is how it was done on the 1981 900T and it was much easier to get to.
I am also tossing up with the idea of getting a replacement long motor for it - can I use any year H turbo engine from 1981 onwards (with the starter motor underneath the exhaust manifold). I know earlier non APC 8 valve turbo engines have a lower compression ratio but that is no issue.
I believe there are later H engines with the starter under the inlet manifold (like in the 16 valve) but I am not too sure if these are turbo or NA engines. If there ia a turbo one can I fit one of these? It would make it a lot easier to repair the starter motor in the future. I have a fairly new starter motor from a 16 valve engine - would it be OK to use this with one of these engines?
If I have to use the 1984 turbo engine, would be engine number identify the particular engine or is there a seperate Saab part identification number?
Thank you so much guys for all your help...
