Earl:
If as your first post said, when you put a test light on the battery neg. post and other end on neg. terminal, and light was on, with car stopped and ignition off, yes, you seem to have a battery drain.
Then, if, as you also said, the light stayed on as you successively pulled several fuses, shutting those circuits off, it meant that none of those circuits was where the drain was.
Then, if, as YOU ALSO SAID, the light WENT OFF when you pulled the fuse for the circuit for the brake lights, that's a sign that there WAS a drain of current in that circuit, until you temporarily shut it off by pulling the fuse.
A drain great enough to make the test light light but not so great as to be a short circuit, which would instantly blow the fuse, could hardly be anything else than THE BRAKE LIGHTS THEMSELVES being on. (Unless maybe somebody wired an accessory like a radio or something to that circuit???)
They don't need to be on all the time - - this can be an intermittent type fault. (With my car that had it, it was that. SOMETIMES, and far more often than I could stand, the brake lights stuck on when I took my foot off the brake pedal.)
You might have also had things slip a little when you were doing the test and in fact the test light could have gone out due to lessening pressure holding it in place, so the fact it went out might not mean your brake light circuit was really drawing current. But if you had the test light firmly attached, and if the light went out when you pulled the fuse, and went back on exactly when you reinserted it, I'd say that at that time, your brake lights were probably stuck on.
A little test you might try: Park the car where you can see the brake lights reflected off a nearby wall, after dark. Step repeatedly on the pedal and let up, sometimes letting up very lightly. If they stay on at least once that's the problem.
I can't remember exactly what the switch looks like. On the earlier 900s it has a threaded shaft and nuts and can be adjusted I think; on late ones I think it just clips into place, and should be right on. On mine I think a plastic clip had broken off; as I said I JB Welded it onto the bracket.
Good luck. Try the search function on here and read lots of old posts on this topic that may be helpful.
