The NTC can get attacked by things like stop leak or just over time, there is a buildup on the surface. The buildup acts like an insulator and can affect the operation -- same thing with the cooling fan sensor. If you pull it out to clean it have one handy to stop the coolant from coming out if you haven't drained it....
RayF has a point about the car starting in the AM, therefore, the fuel pump check valve may not be suspect. One way to tell for sure is to use a fuel pressure gauge to see if the pressure maintains overnight. Some people crack open the fuel rail to see if gas comes spraying out -- I prefer the gauge method but then you have to have the gauge and a connector.....
Check the turbo boot to see if it has loose clamps or a split in it. Hard to see if you don't take off the plumbing. My guess is that there are several things contributing to this malady.....if I find one thing wrong, then I can just about count on there being two other things in hiding....:-)
