Neverending brake squeal

So on other 900s, i remove the pads and coat them with a thin coating of anti-squeal. This one is a '80 900 turbo with the same calipers as the 900 up to '87. I've tried three different anti squeal/silicones on the backs of the pads, replaced all caliper clips twice, and it still squeals like a crazed pig! But not when I press the pedal real hard - only when mostly pressed. And sometimes if I go in reverse and then forward a little, something seems to shift in there, I can hear it. Checked all the caliper bolts - all look very snug and locked in.
The only other thing that I can think of is that different materials of pads/rotors are causing the squeal. Anyone ever dealt with this before? I have a set of semi-metalic pads to put in, but what kind of rotors go with semis to avoid the squeal?
