The front wheel bearing sometimes shifts in the steering knuckle and makes a clunk noise. My experience has been that it will clunk when backing while turning a certain way, depending on side. Then it will make another clunk while moving forward and turning the opposite way, or something like that. It's the forward / reverse while turning that makes it clunk. If that's your problem it's only an annoyance and not a problem. Some people use Locktite when installing the bearings to insure against this aggravation.
Regarding EMPI half shafts, I had a bad experience with one. The shaft snapped in two where the thickest part (about 7/8 inch diameter) tapers just before it goes into the outer joint, under just normal use. It was just slightly out of warranty, but nonetheless it should never have broken there; an eventual joint failure could be expected, but not an axle shaft. It was obviously made with inferior materials. eEuroparts would do nothing.
