Sounds simple enough Posted by SaabStalker [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Re: re installing distributor, turbocon86, Tue, 9 Oct 2012 08:05:28 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Thanks to all who responded so quickly. I am not sure why I am mentally blocking on this process. I just thought if #1 was on exhaust I'd have to rotate the engine untill it was back at top again to make it the TDC compression position, and then I should see the numbers on flywheel again. I will see if I understood when I get home. Here is what added to my issue. After it not firing after installation I sprayed some start fluid into intake after a few tries it fired so I thought fuel issue, but opened rail and lots of fuel under pressure. Then I was not able to get engine to fire anymore no matter how many times I used start fliud. Then I startyed trying to reposition dist. w/o any firing with start fluid. Now I figure I had it installed 180 out . I think I understand its just the position I have the #1 piston in and once that is fixed dist. should install with duist finger pointing at # 1 cap electrode. I guess the dark and the cold and trying to bump the timing marks into view 30 times got the best of me.
