Other cars absolutely are affected. Both my XR4Ti and my V70 are very picky about plug wires. On the XR it's either Motorcraft (Ford) or nothing... although I run Magnacors there too. On the Volvo, you're a fool not to run stock Bougicords - if you think Saabs are picky, you ain't seen nothing til your Volvo flips a CEL every 2.5 minutes for misfires. Audis (at least the old 1.8t) are also pretty picky, but they went through so many revisions on that ignition system there really isn't a one size fits all wire like Bougicords on a Saab.
You can of course run all sorts of plug wires successfully on any of these cars, but the simple fact is the Bougicords *always* work great, and enjoy a long lifespan. There is just zero reason not to spend the money unless you enjoy running experiments on your car... :)
