Get the Bougicords... Posted by Larry West [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Do plug wires matter on a non-turbo?, S Carlson, Thu, 11 Oct 2012 20:54:49 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
...Or Magenecor. Those are the only two brands of spark wires I trust. Magnecors will set you back about $20 more for the set of 8mm wires than the Bougis at EEuro.
I've tried other brands on Saabs, and always came back to the Bougicords, with one exception, and that was when I put Magnecors on an 86 900t.
The Bougicords will fit properly, including at the distributor cap, the spark plugs, and the loom clips under the cover. Believe me, you're not saving anything by getting cheap, generic wires at your local autoparts. Don't even get Bosch wires. The one time I tried that, the wires refused to make good connections at either the cap or the plugs, and they were all Bosch parts!
I just ripped (literally) some crappy generic wires off of my 1995 Volvo 940 Wagon. Replaced the cap, rotor, plugs, and installed Bougicord wires. For an anemic 114HP motor, the difference was very noticeable.
If you got 7 years out of the last set, you'll get double that with the right wires (and to think I used to routinely change them all every 30k...).
