The penalty of holding things(off... busted the slave

seals.
Long story short... A few weeks ago- Brake line busted in rear, low brake fluid. Kept driving the car( stiff brakes)
Finally, one day, no clutch.
Popped open the reservoir, dry like a bone. Topped up..good clutch. Drove it for a next couple of days. Then no clutch again!. Topped up, yet could not get clutch to work.
Temporarily fixed brake line, now fluid does not go down- brakes back, spent last week, bleeding clutch system- got clutch. Thought all was well.
Now, a few days ago, no clutch! Opened the reservoir's cap, clutch compartment dry, yet brake compartment full- the opposite from a few weeks ago.
I am not sure if the three firm pumps from the bicycle pump blew the seals, or simply running it dry.
Now the question:
Should I rebuild the slave cylinder, or purchase a new one? There is a puddle on the ground below clutch.
Years ago, I rebuilt one, and it failed.
Thanks
