Well, I've laid low for the past week, just in case. Looks like we're in the clear now. Lots of snow here in Utah since the non-apocalypse. Two neighbors crashed their cars in the snow. I have found that studded snows on an Spg are the perfect combination for winter. Picking up my first Spg in Virginia 5 years ago, I made it home to Vermont during the first snowfall of the season. Trying to cross the last mile to my house on all-season tires, I went off the road twice - once stuck deep in a snow bank and the second time stuck sideways in a hill blocking the entire one-lane dirt road. Ended up parking the car at the bottom of the hill, skiing down to it the next day, and heading straight to the tire shop to buy studded tires. They were like tank tracks! I found myself able to go where even plow trucks could not. Once going home late at night during a blizzard, no plows has passed yet, and the foot and a half of heavy snow would pile up at the front of the car. I kept backing up and getting a running start to keep plowing myself forward and that way made it home. You couldn't even tell it was a Saab the next day because it was still covered in ice. Looked like an ice cow-catcher in front. I remember someone saying once that it was always so cool to see an Spg bombing through the snow with fogs and snow tires. I've never experienced a better car. That is my end-of-2012 rant.
