Had something like that on my 85na . It's been a few years but I think it was a worn ignition switch. In that case it would catch fire just as you start to release the switch. I have a couple cars with bad fuel line check valves. See my recent comments about the orange dab. In those cases the cars will start as soon as the fuel pressure returns to the mid thirties. Takes 2-7 seconds for the pump to repressurize the system. The car with the brand new pump is in the 2-3 second range.
