...which I would have expected to show itself by more of a gradual deterioration, occasional/increasing misfires, etc. as it cooked itself over time rather than just dropping dead the way it did, but it is what it is: I'll be traveling with a spare in my toolbox from now on.
I guess successful crushing _has_ to happen specifically with ChannelLock 440s or another maker's size-equivalent? I have a set, and bigger ones couldn't bite the rotor neck directly without endangering adjacent delicate bits, and smaller ones didn't have enough leverage to crack it, so not until I brought these home from work to try did I find the 440 to be the Mama Bear size.
Now to find a less kludgy way to resecure the Hall wiring to harness. Does anybody just strip this brittle plastic off down to the wires and replace with a beefier connector?
