UPDATE on "update" Posted by CBS [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Update on 1st time clutch replacement, CBS ![]() |
My indi called yesterday PM and said he had the plumbing and plastic cover off. Said he could see oil on the plastic accordion cover on the slave and the source seemed to be...drum roll...the hydrolic line fitting wasn't tight enough. I remember leaving the fitting loose and using a lever on the clutch pedal so I could squirt some fluid into the slave and dribble some out the fitting -- bleeding in situ. I though for sure I tightened that fitting down before removing the lever from the clutch pedal. Though I was using a stubby wrench that didn't give me much leverage.
Anyway, my indi said it was much too loose and he tightened it. He put a lever on the clutch pedal for two hours and said the fingers remained detracted the entire time. Could it be THAT simple? Hope so. I think that would explain losing the clutch with sustained pressure on the pedal. And it would explain how pumping the clutch pedal seemed to deposit fluid on the ground more than any other action.
Indi also thinks -- though I'm not sure I agree -- that this might be the cause of the master cylinder leaking out the back (inside car). Now that the system is sealed and pressurized the master might go back to "normal". We will see...but finger crossed at this point. Thanks guys...I might have done it somewhat "right" after all.
