In my rusty but trusty '88 SPG, I have the problem where the runner doesn't fit into the passengers side channel unless you put some minor twisting motion -- moving the hood towards the drivers side to seat it in the channel before closing the hood all the way. After a while you can easily tell if you got it into the channel just by looking at it's alignment before the final close of the hood.
I think -though someone may correct me- that the only way to adjust the alignment of the hood is to loosen the two bolts that hold the hood onto the closing mechanism at front of car. Then move the two "sliders" that slip around the bolts on either side either in or out to reposition hood (it should be intuitive). My intent has been to do this on the rusty but trusty SPG, but just haven't had need to take the hood off for any other reason and frankly I guess I'm just kind of used to giving it a little sideways movement when I close the hood.
